My instrument of choice would have to be the saxophone family (I love them all) The saxophone has its own genre of music. I do not believe that it is jazz if it doesn't have a saxophone. I believe that more people know of David Sanborn than Anton Stadler (Mozart composed two works for this clarinetist) or Laura Baillie (flute). People grow tired of the high pitched trilling of a flute, the dull noise of a clarinet, the quacking of an oboe, and the obnoxious of a bassoon. We long for the dark romantic melody that can only be produced by a saxophone. The saxophone has been cheated when placed in bands, being suppressed by "worthier" instruments. However, place a saxophone on its rightful pedestal and it will sing like no other. The saxophone combines the power of a brass with the technique of a woodwind. This is why the saxophone is the master of the woodwind instruments.

3. Bassoon
Well, the Bassoon is probably the hardest woodwind instrument to play. It requires ALOT of practice and hard work. I mean, it's the only instrument that makes you use all 10 of your fingers at once (no, holding up your instrument with your thumb doesn't count). Also, the Bassoon is very comical and makes you laugh like this HAHA! So that's why I should get this music

I play the Bb clarinet, and the reason I was originally most drawn to it and why I think it is the best is simply for the sound. To me, the clarinet has the most beautiful, pure tone of any woodwind instrument. It can play any type or style of music from jazz (benny goodman anyone?!) to classical and still sound amazing. The clarinet is a challenging instrument but also incredibly fun. I love my clarinet!

3. Bb Bass Clarinet.
I absolutely LOVE my instrument. There are not many bass clarinet players out there. Infact, I am the only person entering this contest so far that plays bass clarinet.
It is my main instrument.
I started out playing Bb clarinet in 5th grade, and then I got the chance to switch to bass in 7th.
I switched and I NEVER want to go back.
The sound is absolutely amazing. It is a deep, rich tone full of warmth.
Not many people know that you can march with a bass clarinet, but I have, and this will be my 4th year marching with it.
In marching band, our directors prefer to hear bass clarinet sound over tenor sax sound, because bass clarinet adds more depth and has a better tone.
It kinda looks like a goose.
I am a sophomore in high school, and I LOVE my bass clarinet.
I call it a beast clarinet.
BEAST!
p.s. The website is my blog about my bass clarinet.
